Flashes end home season against Miami tonight

I’ve been sick and again have to post a very abbreviated preview of tonight’s game.

KSU hosts Miami in its final home game of the season at 7 p.m. at the MACC.

A win likely would move Kent, which is 5-21, and 2-14 in the MAC, out of the 12th seed in the conference tournament to the 11th seed.

Miami is a game ahead in the MAC at 3-13 and is 9-18 overall. The Redhawks beat KSU 55-52 at Miami two weeks ago.

The difference in seeding is whether Kent would play at Akron or at Eastern Michigan in the first round of the tournament. But those teams are tied, too, at 9-7, so whom Kent plays is as much dependent on their final two games as its own.

The Flashes lost to Akron twice — by 12 and 10 points — and lost to Eastern Michigan by 21. Eastern has a better overall record (18-9) to Akron’s 15-12.

KSU’s final game of the regular season is at Buffalo Saturday.

Here are the game previews, including broadcast information, from the teams’ websites.

I did some research on the seven players that left last season when they still had some eligibility at Kent.
    1. Melanie Stubbs is in grad school as expected
    2. Mendolsohn is still in school at Kent is not playing because of her knee, I assume.
    3. A third player who’s name escapes me right now is not playing basketball anywhere else.
    4. Janae Peterson is playing D2 at UC San Diego. She has only played 10 minutes in 4 games in late Jan/ early Feb. It sounds like injuries are still a problem although I could not confirm it on the teams website.
    5. Lydia Po is at NAIA Shawnee St. She has played 29 games starting none. She plays 9.7 min, 4.9ppg, 3.6 RPG. Shawnee St is 25-5 by the way.
    6. Madison Ridout is also at Shawnee St. She has played and started all 30 games. She plays 34 mpg, scores 12ppg with 6.2 rebounds and 3.8 assists

    7. Krista White is playing at D2 Johnson C Smith College. Their record is17-12. She has started 22 of 29 games played playing 23.4 mpg. She scores 7.3, gets 3.3 rebounds and leads the team with 86 assists (3.0 per game). She leads the team with assists so she might be playing the point.

To me it looks like only Ridout and White would have helped some this year. Neither are lights out though when you consider they are playing against lesser talent.
